William Stafford: Away Out Over Everything
This year marks the centenary of the birth of William Stafford (1914-1993), arguably Oregon’s most famous poet. As part of a statewide celebration, the Guin Library staff offer some of our favorite Stafford poems in this exhibit. Stafford's deceptively straightforward language masks a complex point of view. As one writer put it, he "sneaks up on the truth." Readers love Stafford's poetry for its humility and humor, for its receptiveness to the landscape, for its silences and open spaces. We hope you will enjoy this small tribute.
