Social Justice Education Initiative training in March
The Social Justice Education Initiative for faculty and staff at Oregon State University is an invitation to begin, or continue, your social justice and equity journey. With humor, empathy, and expertise we will engage in a self-reflective process that helps us answer these important questions: What is the story of the current context in Oregon -- and how did we get here? How do you locate yourseld in this story? Why does social justice matter? The phrase "more curiosity, less judgment" is instrumental to social justice and equity work and is a guiding principle for this interactive workshop. No preparation is needed beyond this principle.
Sign up for SJEI sessions 1 and 2 here. Upcoming sessions held on March 20th and 22nd.

“The function of the university is not simply to teach breadwinning, or to furnish teachers for the public schools, or to be a centre of polite society; it is, above all, to be the organ of that fine adjustment between real life and the growing knowledge of life, and adjustment which forms the secret of civilisation.”
― W.E.B. Du Bois
Can you guess the cat’s person?
This is Hermione. She is a rescue cat, having rescued her family over 10 years ago from the cat-free life they were living. She looks grumpy but has a very sweet disposition, and although she is usually very soft-spoken, she has strong opinions on when it is time to eat. Her nickname is “Moo” because of how loud she is when calling her people to dinner.
Answers can be shared with colleagues and guessed among the office. Next week’s newsletter will have the owner’s name.

I've been working at home on Thursdays during winter term, and I have the most adorable reason why. NEW PUPPY! He's not ready to spend long stretches home alone, but he has been excellent at attending online meetings.
