Branding Tips from Daniel Moret

Welcome to the first of a series of informational tips about the university’s new branding. In this series, I’ll be providing info about the enormous changes to Oregon State’s new brand and the topics of most interest to faculty and staff of the Libraries and Press.

So who needs to use the new university brand and its various components?

According to the Brand Guide:

All colleges, departments and units across campus are required to adopt the new brand identity guidelines for consistency and unity in all Oregon State materials. Compliance is vital for achieving the objectives of the updated brand and logo.

So where do we start? We all use email, right? So for this first installment, here’s what the online brand guide has for the new recommended format for email signatures:

Email Signatures

First and last name [in bold], Title

Oregon State University | Department  | 541-XXX-XXXX

Sample information you could include:

            Name

            Job title

            Oregon State University         

            College, school or department

            Phone number [with area code and hyphens]

            Physical address

Font: Use Verdana size 12-14

Use horizontal dividers to separate text on the second line (located on computer keyboards on the back slash key). If you must provide additional information, separate it into a separate block of text below the basic info.

If this format looks different than what you heard previously, it’s because there were some additions and changes between April and May regarding the format for email signatures.

The Oregon Humanities Conversation Project that is being held at Guin on June 15^th.  We are hosting Jennifer Burns Bright, Fish Tales:  Traditions and Challenges of Seafood in Oregon.

 

University Housing & Dining Services will be hosting a Ramadan Meal program for the Islamic Holy Month starting on Friday, May 26, and continuing nightly from 8:30 to 10 p.m. through Saturday, June 24. A Halal menu will be served at the Southside Station at Arnold Dining Center for $10, before dining discount. All are welcome to join in breaking the fast as a community.

 

Fractured Communities and Unconventional Energy Development in the Trump Era: A presentation by Tony Ladd, Professor of Sociology, Loyola University. With the advent of a new Administration, what does the future hold for communities, energy development, and environmental justice? Professor Ladd will explore the implications of the recent election on energy and environmental agendas, identify key events, and offer insights into what these shifts could mean for the future. Tuesday, May 30, noon, Asian & Pacific Cultural Center, Meeting Room.

 

Volunteers are needed to staff the upcoming Move Out Donation Drive, assisting with receiving and sorting donations. Volunteers are needed for the off-campus event on June 14 and 15; details and sign-up here. And for the res. hall event June 8-20; details and sign-up here. Shifts will be held at the OSUsed Warehouse and Surplus Property (644 SW 13^th Street) and Benton County Fairgrounds (110 SW 53rd Street).
