March is Women's History Month, which also includes International Women's Day on March 8th. This month, according to the Women's History Month website, is dedicated to "commemorating and encouraging the study, observance and celebration of the vital role of women in American history." Beginning as a onetime "Women's History Week" in 1982, the following years produced joint resolutions which continued the celebration, which eventually grew to "Women's History Month." Since 1995, Presidents (Clinton, Bush and Obama) have issued a series of annual proclamations designating the month of March as "Women's History Month" (Women's History Month, 2018).

Review the website to learn more about women's history, and resources. Institutions such as the National Museum of the American Indian, Library of Congress, National Archives, and the Air and Space Museum, among many others, are all hosting events this month, many of which are available freely online.

According to the International Women's Day website, it "is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity." Having been celebrated for over a century, the March 8th celebration was first celebrated by over a million people in Austria, Denmark, German and Switzerland. This year their focus is #PressforProgress - motivating and uniting people to "think, act and be gender inclusive" (International Women's Day, 2018).
