Request items from Valley or Cascades Library?

When books and journals are not available locally at Guin Library, check the library catalog to see if the title you want is owned by OSU's Valley or Cascades Libraries. If so, articles, books or other items can be requested by simply clicking on the orange Request button located on the upper left corner of the catalog record for the title you want. A request form will appear.

Fill in the following information on the form:

  1. Type your name and patron I.D. number
  2. Choose the correct "pick-up" location on the drop down menu; this identifies where you want your book to be sent so you can receive it. Articles will be sent electronically to your email address.
  3. Type in a cancellation date if you will not need the item after a certain date.
  4. Type all citation information if you are placing an article request.
  5. Click the "Submit" button at the bottom of the request if you wish to receive an electronic copy of the article. But click the "Submit" button to the left of your citation if you wish to borrow the entire issue of the journal.

Register for interlibrary loan service?

This service helps you access materials that OSU does not own. Items can be borrowed from other institutions in the U.S. as well as from International lenders. However, everyone who wishes to use the ILL service must first register to use it.

OSU faculty, staff and students (including courtesy faculty & CIMRS) must have an ONID account before registering for ILL service. For help, phone the OSU Computer Helpdesk at (541) 737-3474 or email them at osuhelpdesk@oregonstate.edu

Once you have your ONID account and know your ONID username and password, you are ready to register for Interlibrary Loan Service. Simply fill out and submit the electronic form.

Non-OSU people associated with HMSC do not need to have an ONID account to register for ILL service. They may simply register by filling out this form and submitting it.

Everyone who registers for Interlibrary Loan service will receive an email message confirming successful registration. Please be sure to write down your new ILL username and password: you'll need to use them each time you place a request.

Please ask the Guin Library staff for help with registration if you are having any trouble: the process can be a bit frustrating.
