Guin Library

Location:

• The Guin Library is located at 2030 SE Marine Science Dr. (Building 909) in Newport, OR 97365 on the campus of the Oregon State University Hatfield Marine Science Center.

• The Oregon State University Hatfield Marine Science Center.Campus (HMSC) is about 2 ½ hours (135) miles from the city of Portland, roughly three hours away from Portland International Airport, and a little over an hour away from Oregon State University's main campus in Corvallis.

Getting Here

If you are driving south on HWY 101:

1. Heading south on HWY US-101: As you leave Newport, you will cross the Yaquina Bay Bridge
2. Turn right onto the first road after the bridge, SW Abalone St.
3. SW Abalone St. curves to the right, passes under the bridge, and becomes SE Marine Science Dr.
4. Turn right onto SE 25th St. (you will pass a sign that says "Do Not Enter: Restricted Area, authorized personnel only")
5. Turn left onto Hatfield Marine Science Center (you will pass by our student housing/basketball court) follow the road as it curves to the right
6. On your left you will see a parking lot, pull into it, the building on your left is the Guin Library

 

If you are driving north on HWY 101:

1. Head north on HWY US-101 
2. Turn right on SE Pacific Way (it is the last road on your right before you drive onto the Yaquina Bay Bridge)
3. At the stop sign, turn right onto SE Marine Science Dr.
4. Turn right onto SE 25th St. (you will pass a sign that says "Do Not Enter: Restricted Area, authorized personnel only")
5. Turn left onto Hatfield Marine Science Center (you will pass by our student housing/basketball court) follow the road as it curves to the right
6. On your left you will see a parking lot, pull into it, the building on your left is the Guin Library

Parking

Visitor parking is free and is available on the east side of the Guin Library (#909) or on the north side of the Marine Studies building (#916); bicycle parking is available on the north side of the Guin Library, under the whale skeleton.

Visiting the Hatfield Marine Science Visitor's Center

If you are also interested in visiting the HMSC Visitor Center, you can find more information on their web site. 

The easiest way to get from Guin Library to the Visitor Center is to return to the main road, SE Marine Science Dr, and go to the Visitor Center parking lot.
