Requests may be placed on general collection Valley Library items that are available through the library catalog. Staff retrieve the item and place it on the hold shelf at Circulation. Staff look for available items twice a day on weekdays. You will receive an email when the item is ready for pick up or if it cannot be found.
If you can't find an item on the shelf, first check the reshelving area for that floor. Floor maps are available online or on every floor by the elevators. Then, ask the Information Desk for assistance with finding the item. If it still can't be found, place a request through the library catalog, which will trigger additional staff to search for the item. If it's not found, staff will place a Summit request or will direct you to place an interlibrary loan request.
Requests may be placed on general collection OSU Library items that are currently checked out through the library catalog and the book becomes recalled. The recalled status blocks the patron who has it checked out from renewing and will change the due date to one week from when requested. You will receive an email when the item is ready for pick up at Circulation.
If you have an item checked out that has been requested, you receive an email of what your new due date is. You will have one week to return the item from when it was requested. Overdue fines are $2 a day.
Request items from branch locations using the library catalog or by calling the Information Desk at (541) 737-7295. Branch requests should arrive within 3 business days.
Most volumes in storage may be requested using the library catalog. If a volume is not listed online, call the Information Desk at (541) 737-7295.
Storage items are retrieved between 4-5 PM Monday-Friday. You will be notified via email when the item is ready for pickup at Circulation.
Any Summit items can be requested through the library catalog. Summit is a resource sharing service involving 37 academic libraries in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. Books requested from Summit will be delivered to OSU in 7-10 business days, but it may take longer.
Use the Interlibrary Loan service to request books not available at OSU or in Summit.
