- About
The Guin Library has an extensive art collection purchased through gifts from our generous supporters. The Guin building was funded by federal grants rather than state monies which meant the budget did not include a 1% mandate for art. Nevertheless, our supporters raised the needed funds for the library's furnishings and equipment. With the remaining funds, art was purchased for the building.
One of the first pieces of art purchased was Frank Boyden's marvelous ceramic platter with the chinook salmon head in the library's foyer. Two wonderful oil paintings by Drake Deknatel and Nelson Sandgren moved into the new library building from the HMSC Education Building. Other pieces have been donated over the years including the installation created and donated by Jackie Niemi in the Seminar Room hallway.
