This page gives historic seawater data for Yaquina Bay. To find data through Sept. 25, 2013, you can go to http://yaquina.loboviz.com/. This site archives data from Nov.1, 2007 to Sept. 25, 2013.
Measurements in the files shown below were logged every 6 minutes until December 1999, where thenceforth measurements are logged every 15 minutes.
Tide height is measured in feet, temperature in Celsius, salinity in ppt (parts per thousand). Dates are formatted as yymmdd; times formatted as hhmm
Instrumentation and location:
Salinity: OMEGA non-contact Conductivity sensor, model CDCN-108 (no longer manufactured);
Temperature: OMEGA Temperature Probe PR-11-2-100-1/8-6-E.
Two locations for each
instrument: Yaquina Bay intake dock and inside Newport Aquaculture Laboratory (NAL) building (water from
bay reservoir flows through piping system into buildings where
measurements are taken).
Tide height is approximate; measurements of salinity have periods of slight inaccuracy.
Salinity changes erratically; may be off by 6 ppt.
Since mid-1996, salinity data for Yaquina Bay is wrong.
Small blocks of data are unavailable during periods of instrument malfunction. Known missing days:
